Kris Aquino is used to condo-living. She was living in a condo unit when she was living-in with ex-partner Philip Salvador. But in 2013, Kris moved into a three-story house in Quezon City with her two sons, Joshua and Bimby.
The house is a dream with a cottage theme going on. It has an enchanting garden reminiscent of English cottages. Kris also had investment pieces throughout the property.
Kris renovated it. Interior designer Rossy Yabut-Rojales and the Heim Interiors team helped her achieve her dream setting. Kris and her family were able to move in, in 3 1/2 months.
Rossy explains that the house was huge. They tear down some walls to make way for expansion because the house has a lot of open spaces. What remained when they finished renovating was the structure of the house. The adjustments were made for Kris’s requests including the application of Feng Shui. Kris wanted the house to look like it’s located in the Hampton’s, with a country-style going on.
The house is still filled with bright colors despite the country motif. The front door is in a bright green shade. Upon entering the living room, a huge white sectional sofa will greet guests. There’s a small side table near the front door where a religious statue rests. There’s a high table, plus two armchairs in beige color. Some flower arrangements and a few coffee table books adorn the top of the table.
Natural lighting enters the living room with the help of gigantic glass walls and windows. Kris was able to maintain her privacy with the help of white curtains.
Many of the pieces like the sofa, chairs, and table are custom-made. The table is high enough because Kris wanted a functional one. It is common in their family gatherings that people are using their laptops while eating, hence, the height.
There’s a TV cabinet in the living room and behind it is a black grand baby piano. A golden Buddha stands guard in between the two spaces.
The dining area and kitchen are also homey with a regal touch. White continues to be a theme in the kitchen. Countertops and kitchen cabinets are in white.
There are many lighting fixtures in these areas. In the dining area are two crystal chandeliers. The dining table is made of glass top with an intricate sculpture base. They painted it white to follow with the white theme.
The table is from former President Aquino, Kris’s mother. It’s been with Kris for years. And she matched it with some individual chairs and a couch to make the look of the dining homier.
Kris always uses two pairs of chandeliers. It’s a tip she got from a Feng Shui expert. Using crystal chandeliers is a personal choice for her.
One of the cutest parts of Kris’s house is the glass cabinets. You could see her collections of English country tea sets. She loves these styles and buys a lot. She also got many, as gifts from the people who know what she prefers.
Of course, Kris has a makeup room. It’s on the first floor so that anyone sleeping upstairs won’t get disturbed when Kris and her team are rushing. It has an office and an exercise room. It also comes with a private toilet and a washbasin for hair.
There are see-through storage cabinets across the staircase. It’s where many of Kris’s collections are. One could see the shoe collections because LED lights illuminate them.
By the staircase are paintings for Cory and Ninoy, her parents.
The family is also used to wall-to-wall carpeting. So, Rossy did the same when they moved. Bimby’s room is in a black shade. They’ve added yellow and orange sheets and pillows to put some brighter touch.
Bimby has a drum set, a TV cabinet with a huge TV and lots of knick-knacks, and more. There’s also a bathroom inside the bedroom.
On the other hand, Josh’s room is in a travel and explorer theme. They had a custom-made map wallpaper because travel and exploring are Josh’s interests. Josh has a computer set with a vintage-looking table instead of a TV set. The room also has its bathroom.
The floor going to the third floor is where another set of cabinets are found. It also housed the collections of Kris. There’s also a walk-in closet on the third floor. The photos showed the many fashion collections of Kris.
The house also has a rooftop outdoor area where they hold gatherings. It’s also where they grow fresh herbs and citronella, which helps wards off mosquitoes. Lastly, Kris requested a bougainvillea garden after getting inspiration from Pinterest.
They put a white trellis for the ornamental plant as well as other thorny flowering vines. {source credit}
