Once a Problem Student Became a Successful Businessman Owning Multiple Company

What is success? There are many definitions of success. It’s no accident. It’s a combination of hard work, patience, resilience and determination. Many of successful people today studied and graduated from prominent and prestigious institutions. Some successful people also came from public and state universities.

A young man proved that education is important but not necessarily the key to one’s success. Many thriving businessmen came from poor families and weren’t lucky enough to be given a good education, but still they managed to become successful people.

Esquire Mag featured a very successful businessman who failed to finish high school on time. He transferred to 3 different schools and failed to graduate and get a diploma. It’s not because he was unintelligent but because he likes to skip classes and hang out with friends.

Coming from a very wealthy family, Felipe Zamora III was able to proceed to college after passing the Philippine Educational Placement Test. He then went to the US to continue his tertiary education.

When he was studying abroad he realized a lot of things. He shared on his interview:

“You go to school with people who have two jobs. You go to school with people with kids and it’s like, wow what a realization… Then you start having an appreciation for the value of money and work that really changes your perception.”

After completing his degree in Finance he came back to the Philippines and became the head Golden Legacy Finance Corporation (GLFC), Zamora’ s family business. GLFC is a lending company catering to pensioners in the country.

Aside from the family business, Felipe also ventured into another business and partnered with a Russian company who really wanted to expand and bring their business in South East Asia.

In September 2017, Robocash opened its first branch in the Philippines and became very successful. Now there are 50 branches of Robocash in the Philippines and like what they always say, the rest is history.

Loving Grandfather Build Mini-Swimming Pool for His Grandkids Goes Viral

What used to be an old pig pen became a source of happiness for this lolo’s grandkids.

Lolo Alfredo is your ordinary grandfather. He loves his grandchildren and knows that they just want to have fun this summer.  Yet, they can’t do that because of the quarantine period.

So, Lolo Alfredo turned his old pigpen to a wonderful mini-pool for the whole family. At first, the family was thinking of buying an inflatable pool.

Blessie, the mother said that they only worried that the children might destroy it because they’re still very playful and rowdy. That is why Lolo Alfredo thought of a way to improvise.

For only Php4,000, Lolo Alfredo built this water haven in their home. He made it in 6 days.  What a way to beat the hit and boredom from the quarantine.

Lolo Alfredo is a construction worker that’s why building things like this mini-pool is easy for him. The mini-pool is better than the inflatable pool. It will last longer and more susceptible to wear-and-tear.

Blessie shared that the children loved the mini-pool. It’s colorful and big enough for the three. The children’s names are Rica Mae, Ricailla Maine, and Rick Alfred. Base on their photos, the children truly loved what Lolo Afredo did for them.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a grandfather like Lolo Alfredo?

Our grandparents play significant parts of our lives. Some of us grew up having only them looking out for us. They take care of us when mommy and daddy are at work. They defend us from bullies, give us “naughty foods”, and let us play until it’s dark outside.

Truly, it’s a blessing to have loving grandparents like Lolo Alfredo. Blessie’s children are in good hands. She has help from a loving Lolo who is always there for his grandchildren.

May God bless your loving soul, Lolo Alfredo!

Old Photos of What Boracay Island Looked Like Before the Tourists Came Amaze Netizens

Local and foreign tourists flock to Boracay year-round. It’s one of our country’s finest white sand beaches. Even celebrities here and abroad love how this island beams with so much life.

Just take a look at the nightlife in Boracay. If you’d like to be seen then you must go there. There are also quiet corners around the island. These are the not-so-secret, secret spots.

For a time, our pride and joy have fallen to the hands of tourists. It became polluted due to many restaurants not having proper sewage systems. These caused the water around the island to be dirty, with some folks complaining of skin rashes.

But, this island is so magical that President Rodrigo Duterte closed it for a while to renovate. Nevermind if they closed it to make way for a big casino. The important thing is that they’ve rehabilitated the island.

Now, the island is back to its former glory. It’s very clean, and families and friends can swim safely. They can also play many water sports. The island is popular for that.

Before the fame of the island, it was an untouched virgin beach. Pictures posted show a fine white sand beach laden with many coconut trees. There weren’t many inhabitants on the island.

Some of the pictures were even in black and white! Island life back then was very simple. And, only a few small nipa huts are on the beachfront.

You could see in the picture some local members of the community. These pictures are circa 1980. The island became popular soon.

It was not only beautiful and pristine. The island is also rich in natural resources especially from the sea.

Island life in Boracay is very different today. The important thing is the rehabilitation. They were able to save Boracay.

A couple of days ago, locals found colorful seashells by the shore. No one knows yet what this phenomenon could be. But, everyone is amazed at seeing those seashells.

Lucky you if you’ve been frugal even before the lockdown happened. People from different communities here and abroad experienced layoffs. The world is mourning for the economic drop.

But what can we do during the lockdown? There are still many ways to cope at this time. For this woman, that meant saving up way before the pandemic happened.

image vi CFO PESO SENSE / Facebook

She is the wife of a barber. Her husband used to work for well-to-do clients. They would give him big tips.

The husband and wife had a compromise. Wifey asked her husband to save a part of his salary for their children’s future. Then, wifey would save up the tips he brings home each day.

It was a good deal for them. Wifey is not a spender. Instead, she put Php1,000 a day in her pouch, which she kept secret from her husband.

Alas, the pandemic came, and her husband lost his job. Her husband was worried they won’t survive the situation.  To his surprise, wifey managed to cook proper meals day after day.

When he couldn’t bear the mystery any longer, he asked her where the money she spends is coming from.

Wifey told her husband that it was from the tips he gave her. She explained that the money amounted to Php217K because she saved most of it. Her husband was so happy that he hugged her and thanked her for saving up.

She shared her story on CFO Peso Sense. It’s a Facebook page where followers share their stories of saving up. It’s an inspirational page and you can learn a lot about being thrifty and preparing for the rainy days.

It’s never too late to save up. Right now, everyone should focus on survival first. There are lesser jobs and opportunities. So, it will be harder.

Let’s give it time and try to survive until the storm passes. After this is over, we can start practicing saving up again. Many Facebook pages enlist tried and tested ways to save up for people in different social statuses. Reading those is helpful. Good luck!

The photograph really keeps everything especially the most important events in our lives. With the help of photography, we can look back from where we were and reminisce on that day we snap it. It’s amazing how technology keeps these memories.

Recently, a teenage photo of the famous Filipino tattoo artist went viral on social media.

Meet Whang Od Oggay, popularly known as Whang-Od or Maria Oggay. The 102-year-old tattoo artist is helping to keep one of the ancient traditions of Kalinga Province in the Philippines. She is the oldest “mambabatok”, a traditional Kalinga tattooist.

Using a handmade ink from a mixture of pine soot and water, she tattoos visitors who traveled a 15-hour drive from Manila to the mountain of Buscalan which is only accessible by hike. The ink was tapped into the skin using a thorn from a pomelo tree and bamboo to push it in.

She started her craft when she was a youth. However, it is against their tradition that women learn tattoo because this is solely for men in the tribe. By the age of 15, she was under the guidance of her father, starting her tattoo apprenticeship.

But aside from her popularity as an oldest Filipino tattoo artist, her teenage photo recently garnered attention from the online community.

Posted by John Kiven Ortiz, people were amazed how beautiful Whang Od is when she was in her younger years. Born on February 17 1917, she was blessed to reach her age healthy and still beautiful.

According to an interview, what makes her healthy is not eating canned goods with oil and food with preservatives. Well, that’s a good habit though. Judging her photo, she’s really beautiful and looks healthy.

Whang Od has no children of her own and they believed that this art can only be transferred by blood relatives. She trained her nieces to become a tattoo artist.

What do you when you are bored at home? Me, I just lay down and read random stories posted online. I have read many inspiring stories online and have written some as well. Today we will feature another heartwarming story. It’s really nice to know that there are still people with golden hearts amidst the covid19 outbreak.

A barangay tanod in Flora, Apayao was rewarded because of his good deeds and being a good example to many. The Philippine National Police of Flora recognized the efforts of the 31-year-old barangay tanod named Arsenio Dumrique Jr., a father of two.

He lives in a small house that only a canvas cloth (tent) serves their roof. During heavy rains, Arsenio, his wife and kids are wet because of the poor roofing of their house. Despite the difficult situation, Arsenio still managed to help people during the pandemic especially to the disabled persons in their community.

The PNP of Flora gave him a new house as part of their “Bayanihan we heal as one, build as one and win as one” project. The objective of this program is to help individuals who inspired and showed good deeds during the covid19 period.

They also have this “Kapwa ko, sagot ko” program which aims to help the poorest of the poor in their community according to PNP Municipal Executive Senior Police Officer of Flora, PEMS Gemma G. Malag.

The PNP officers helped in finding the perfect location where they can build the new house. Those who were caught violating the rules of the ECQ and GCQ were asked to volunteer in the construction of the new houses.

Now, Arsenio and his family have a new house. They don’t need to worry about being wet during the rainy season. Thanks to the good Samaritans of Flora, Apayao.
