Earthquake Victims touched by Robin’s gesture as he brings Digong’s Donation

A woman got emotional when she saw Robin Padilla in their area in Makilala, North Cotabato when he brought relief goods for the victims of the earthquake. As seen on the video that the actor has shared on his Instagram account, he was seen consoling a lady who was crying because a member of her family died in the earthquake. The woman was also very thankful for the donation that was given to her by the actor. The actor’s followers were so touched when they saw the video.

Robin’s caption on his post states how he feels so blessed by Allah that he was the one chosen to bring the donation of President Rodrigo Duterte. He said that he can’t explain how he feels in seeing how everyone was consoling and donating something for the victims of the earthquake. Many netizens thanked the actor and said that the video also made them cry. One netizen said that when the victims see that people are going out of their way to help the victims is already a big consolation for the pain that they have been feeling. Another one said that he hopes Robin will continue supporting the president in his advocacies especially in helping the country and the Filipino people.

Robin Padilla or Robinhood Ferdinand Padilla in real life is also known as the Bad Boy of Philippine Movies. Regardless of his moniker, Robin is known as someone who has a heart for the poor. There was a time when he opened his house to fellow Muslims and feed them. He’s also known to be close to the President of the Republic and a converted Muslim so it’s no wonder that he was assigned to bring the donations of the President for the devastated people of Mindanao.

Mayor Vico Sotto and Pasig City gives Php14M and Relief Goods to Mindanao Earthquake Victims

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto gives the 2^nd biggest donation to the Mindanao earthquake victims. Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno had also given Php5M donation for the Mindanao victims. This was from his own pocket; talent fees from his endorser at the Belo Medical Center and a pharmaceutical company. The young mayor of Pasig City shared the complete details of the donation on his Facebook page. The residents of Mindanao were very thankful to Mayor Vico and the residents of Pasig City.

The mayor called for an emergency Sanggunian session on November 5, 2019, so the City Council can approve the recommendation of the Disaster Risk and Reduction Management of Pasig. The recommendation stated that the City of Pasig will donate Php14M and relief goods for the earthquake victims in Mindanao. Mayor Vico said that based on the recommendation of the DRRM Council of the City, he called for an emergency session so that the donation will have formal approval. The Php14M donation will be broken down as follows;

North Cotabato

Makilala – Php3M
Tulunan – 2M
M’Lang – 2M
Kidapawan – 2M

Davao del Sur

Magsaysay – Php2M
Bansalan – 2M
Matanao – 1M

It can be recalled that on October 16, 2019 a magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit South Cotabato and Davao del Sur. Three malls were damaged in Davao because of the earthquake. On October 29, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake hit Mindanao which led to a major fire in General Santos City. On October 31, a magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit Mindanao again which led to serious damages. The earthquake had also left several people dead and injured while others are still missing. Being stricken by major earthquakes one after another, the residents of Mindanao badly need help. There are about 150,000 individuals or 30,000 families affected by the disaster as per NDRRMC data.

Philip Delarmino was just a poor boy from Iloilo and for him to earn money to buy food, he has to search in trash bins and look for something that he can sell. His life changed for the better after he learned Muay Thai. To date, he is the National Team Captain of the men’s team of the Muay Thai Philippines. He has represented the Philippines in different international competitions that were held outside the country.

Philip Delarmino was still very young when his father got sick and eventually went blind. His father used to be a pedicab driver and the young Philip, wanting to help his father, also tried to drive a pedicab. He was just a small kid at that time and the job proved to be hard for him.

He then turned to be a scavenger so he can help his family put food on the table. When he grew up, he got interested in Muay Thai. Together with his brothers, they would watch bouts that were held in their hometown. Since they have no money for training, they can’t approach the coaches. They got contented watching the athletes and practice at home. They would, later on, join as underdogs in Muay Thai during town fiestas.

They would get paid with Php150 per match regardless if they win or not. Winners, on the other hand, got paid with Php500 so the boys became more interested in Muay Thai because, for poor boys like them, it’s already a big amount. He won the Muay Thai national competition at 16 yrs. old.

He was then sent to represent the Philippines in international competitions. He won a silver medal in the SEA Games in Myanmar and in 2017 he won the same at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. He is now aiming for gold in the 2019 SEA Games that will be held here starting November 30.

Engineer Romeo Ordaz worked in Riyadh in the hope of giving his family a better life. He worked hard despite the loneliness of being far away from loved ones. He didn’t allow homesickness to get the better of him. So you could just imagine when the time came that he went home unannounced wanting to surprise his family but he was the one who got the most unexpected surprise.

Just like any OFW coming home to their family after working in a foreign land, Ordaz was excited that he will be seeing his family again. But when he came back, his family is gone and so was their house. He can’t understand what happened and this left him wondering. Imagine going home with nowhere to go.

Jay Taruc is one of the award-winning journalists in the Philippines. Aside from being a well-known reporter of GMA News and Public Affairs, he is also one of the documentary hosts of I-Witness. He was able to bring home several awards both in the Philippines and abroad. During the recent contract signing of the hosts of I-Witness in the Kapuso network, many noticed that from five hosts, only four of them were present. They were Kara David, Sarah Aguinaldo, Howie Severino and Atom Araullo who’s a new host of the show. Many were wondering where Joe Taruc was.

During an interview for Esquire Philippines, Taruc revealed that he has officially left his career as a journalist for several reasons. One of those is to pursue his passion for motorcycles. His interest in motorcycles was noticed by when he did a show on GMA News TV called Motorcycle Diaries where Taruc made different stories using his motorcycle. He said that his interest in motorcycles dates back as early as 2000. He had started collecting different kinds of motorcycle then including big bikes. Thus, after making Motorcycle Diaries, he realized that he wants to focus on his passion for motorcycles.

Motorcycle Diaries stopped airing in 2017 but he continued co-hosting I-Witness. When they made a documentary on the traffic in Metro Manila, he realized anew the importance of motorcycle riders in the country. He formally asked the bosses of GMA-7 that he will be leaving his job as a host of I-Witness and will instead produce a show about motorcycle riders. He will also be one of the hosts of the show which will educate the public about the importance of the riders.

He’s also creating events for his fellow motorcycle enthusiasts. He also explained the need to spend more time with his family so he needs to leave I-Witness. His child has a health condition that needs his attention. Being one of the co-hosts of I-Witness, he had to go to far-away locations. Now that he has enough time, he can spend more time with his family especially with his sick child.

It’s been more than a decade since the untimely demise of former matinee idol Rico Yan but the fans of RYCB (Rico Yan-Claudine Barretto) still keep on reliving his memories. The RYCB fans were very happy when they saw Rico’s nephew who looks exactly like the late actor. The boy is the son of Rico’s sister, Geraldine. A fan shared on the Facebook group, RYCB Forever, a photo of the nephew. She said that except for Rico’s dimples, the boy looks like their idol.

The other members of the said Facebook group agreed with Nemrac Sogubac Amlap, the fan who posted the photo, and many of them were happy because it seemed like they are seeing their idol alive again.
