Look: Cristine Reyes Two-Storey Pristine House

Cristine Reyes’ two-story haven located in the south of Metro Manila is one you can best describe as very peaceful. The renovation of her house took three months and she was hands-on with all the details. She personally did the shopping for all her furniture and even chose the color for each area. Her all-white pallete suited the design of her house very well. She had added hints of color ranging from crimson to periwinkle. The actress also used recessed lighting features to achieve a more peaceful vibe to it. The house was acquired by the actress a few years before getting married.

Living Area

It’s a very spacious and bright area with natural lights streaming in from the glass doors. There’s a huge sectional sofa which is in a very light color. There are built-in shelves where she displays several kinds of knickknacks. She opted to do it this way so she can save up on the space.

Dining & Kitchen Area

The area is also in color white except for the wall that was painted with lime green thus making the room look lively. The leather chairs and marble table were custom-made.

The kitchen is quite spacious and simple with wooden and monochrome palette details. Planters were placed on the countertops to add color to the space.

Stairway Landing

The actress’ house doesn’t have a foyer so her stairway landing was converted into a cozy way place and added a comfy seating peace along with some contemporary pieces of art to liven up the walls.

Entertainment Room

She’s a huge fan of movies so she made sure that there’s an entertainment room in her house. The area has padded walls and a huge sectional sofa with a big round center table. The actress and her guests will have a good time watching a movie in this area.

Bedroom

The wall in Cristine’s bedroom is in patterned gray, lavender, and cream wallpaper. To keep up with the streamlined look she had chosen an upholstered bed in beige with tan drapes and complimenting side tables.

She spends time on her bedroom balcony to relax and reflect on her life as she enjoys the wonderful view of the garden. There are ivy-covered panels around the balcony.

Bathroom & Walk-in Closet

Her bathroom is quite huge and mostly painted in red color. Mosaic tiles in red tones were used near the shower spot. The cabinets have mirrored doors to give an illusion of a larger space.

One word to describe her walk-in closet is neat. Everything is neatly arranged and the crystal chandelier highlights the pristine appearance of the area.

Filipino Scholar goes Viral after Graduating Summa Cum Laude in Europe

Kent Tangacalagan, a Filipino scholar, went viral recently after graduating summa cum laude in his Masteral degree in Europe. He was among the lucky ones to qualify for the Erasmus Joint Masters Degree in Comparative Local Development in May 2017. He was lucky to have been able to study for free in Europe and being able to experience going to different European universities in the course of his study. He studied in Hungary for the first semester at the Corvinus University of Budapest and in the second semester, he went to Germany and studied at the University of Regensberg. The third semester was completed in Italy at the University of Trento.

He faced many challenges while finishing his studies and the worst was when he lost both of his parents in 2018. Despite this tragic incident in his life, he still thrived to do his best in his studies and was able to graduate with honors and a summa cum laude at that. Of course, he would forever be thankful to the Erasmus Mundos scholarship for the opportunity given to him. The scholarship he got covered his tuition fees, monthly contribution cost for his basic needs accommodation, annual travel allowance, and establishment allowance to help scholars like him for the adjustment period in a foreign country.

Tangcalagan visited other European countries during study breaks. In his Facebook post, he gave a heart-touching tribute to his parents. He shared that as he closed on that wonderful chapter of his two-year journey in Europe as an Erasmus Mundus scholar, the best thing he was able to learn was resilence. He had the worst experience losing both of his parents while studying in Europe but was able to succeed past it.

He further added that wherever his parents are, they will be proud of him not only because of his Master’s Degree and honors but more so because he had managed to achieve them despite the obstacles that he had to go through. The past two years were his most trying times and he wouldn’t survive it if not for the support and love he got from his family and friends.

Tangcalagan is from Cebu and graduated from the University of San Jose- Recoletos in 2011 with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Associate in Health Science Education. He had also received a previous scholarship in his first Masteral Degree from the De La Salle University for Master of Health Social Science. He had worked as a nurse at the Perpetual Succour Hospital. He, later on, worked as a Gender Research Associate at the Social Development Research Center at the De La Salle University which helped him gain confidence and knowledge to study under the Erasmus Mundos program in Europe.

Look: Get Amaze on Digitally Restored Wedding Video of Fernando Poe Jr. and Susan Roces

Fernando Poe Jr. and Susan Roces are considered two of the pillars of the showbiz industry with FPJ being regarded as Da King and Susan was the movie queen during her prime. As such, the couple was called the “power couple” after tying the knot in 1968. It’s not very often that the “king” will be marrying the “queen” so their wedding was considered iconic. Fans and the entire showbiz industry were more than overwhelmed with that event. Though the couple had gone through many rough times during their marriage, they were able to survive the obstacles and lived together until FPJ’s untimely death in 2004.

Because of the time that had passed since that wedding day in 1968, you can’t expect that their wedding video would still be in great shape even if the couple made sure it was well-kept. Fortunately, there are ways now to restore videos that have suffered from wear and tear and one of those that benefited from this is the wedding of Philippine Cinema’s King and Queen. The video was restored and in 2017, the netizens were more than happy when FPJ Productions shared it on social media.

The netizens, especially the fans of the coupe were very thankful and became nostalgic when they saw the very young FPJ and Susan Roces on their wedding video. They were able to witness again the very important event in the lives of their idols. One Millet Lopez said she’s very thankful for uploading the video and it’s a great gift to them as fans who were not even born at that time.

She shared that she saw Susan Roces for the first time in 1986 via the movie, “Inday, Inday sa Balitaw”. Another netizen, Lilia Santos, said that the couple had always been her favorite and the video’s clearness showed how handsome and beautiful the couple was.

The Happy Home of Korina Sanchez with Pepe and Pilar

The Happy Home of Korina Sanchez with Pepe and Pilar

Having babies can make a very quiet house into a happy home. The happiness that babies bring to a couple is something worth more than anything. This is what happened to couple Korina Sanchez and Mar Roxas after their twins, Pepe and Pilar came into their lives. As Sanchez puts it, their household is quiet and only lights up when there are visitors around. But when Pepe and Pilar arrived, their house became lively, homey, and busy. Their house now exudes happiness. Pepe (Pepe Ramon Gerardo Manuel Denzel Sanchez Roxas) and Pilar Judith Celia Esther Korina Sanchez Roxas were born in the U.S. on the 12th of February, 2019. They were brought home to their parents’ native country, the Philippines, on the 1st of April, 2019. As Pepe and Pilar’s mommy gives a tour of the house, you can see how she is so much into the twins.

PHOTO: OCS ALVAREZ | PEP

The happy abode is on the Araneta-Roxas compound in Cubao, Quezon City which used to be the former bachelor’s pad of Mar Roxas and late brother, Dinggoy. Their house is known in the area as Bahay na Puti. The sizes of the first and second floors are the same so most of their things are upstairs where the kids also stay. According to Korina, she doesn’t want to leave the house often so her meetings are usually done downstairs.

Office

PHOTO: OCS ALVAREZ | PEP

Sanchez describes her office area as a living and dining in one. She explains that this area is where they also entertain their guests and when they want to see their twins, Pepe and Pilar are brought down here. Korina shares that she doesn’t like moving the furniture or making renovations in the house because aside from not being a feng shui fanatic, it’s also hard to follow it. The rule that she follows is changing the position of where she faces and not based on the movements of the furniture in the house. The house looks like it will be approved by any feng shui expert though.

PHOTO: OCS ALVAREZ | PEP

The area is very spacious and has a wonderful view of their garden. It’s a good spot where the twins can get some sun and air. But the doting mom said that they didn’t dare to bring the twins there during the summer because it can get so hot on that spot.

Twin’s Nursery

PHOTO: OCS ALVAREZ | PEP
PHOTO: OCS ALVAREZ | PEP

The nursery room of Pepe and Pilar was constructed this year only. The room used to be a veranda where you can get a good view of the garden. Trees can be viewed from the room and the sun gives natural light as it streams into the windows. It’s a very cozy room that is painted in neutral colors which were decided by Sanchez who had inherited her mother’s genes in interior design. This is her favorite area in the house and can actually stay inside the whole day just looking at the babies. Korina wants to have many memories with the twins and almost hates leaving home because she wants to see every development in them. This explains why she holds meetings in the house most of the time.

PHOTO: OCS ALVAREZ | PEP

Girl-and boy matching items can be seen inside the room but the baby girl has more compared to her twin brother. It was not because the parents buy more for the baby girl but more so because Pilar receives more gifts than Pepe. Korina says maybe it’s because there are more cute styles for girls than boys. That’s probably why she consciously shop for her son. They also grow up fast so she makes sure that the branded items are worn at once. There was an instance though that a friend of theirs gave the twins a Burberry so she had to ask permission to have them replaced. With the amount of branded clothes, you can buy a blanket, diapers and more outfits. Korina is one practical mommy.

PHOTO: OCS ALVAREZ | PEP

She further adds that all of the Gap brands she bought were on sale by 40% when she bought them in Pittsburgh. Practical that she is, Mar has more discipline in spending and recycling goods. Mar would usually say that they just cut the booties part of the onesies of the twins which she would agree with provided that the kids can still breathe with their clothes.

Library

PHOTO: OCS ALVAREZ | PEP

According to Korina, the library is where interviews and photoshoots are done. There are numerous books in the area, as expected of any library. Some are the 1st edition books of Gerry Roxas, Mar’s father. She loves this area and feels that there’s a treasure in having old books from a former senator. The room is huge and almost looks like a big bookstore. It’s very elegant looking and everything seemed so neatly placed.

PHOTO: OCS ALVAREZ | PEP

There are also paintings and photos hanging by the wall and would you believe that there’s a frame of worn-out slippers? Korina explained that those are the used slippers of the children they had given new ones. She collects the old slippers of the children after giving them new pairs. She cleans and have them framed. She can sell them for Php25K per frame and uses the money to buy more slippers. They do it once a year.

The famous Rated K host is known for going to provinces and gathering kids in very poor neighborhoods and giving them a new pair of slippers. Korina had already been doing these for several years now and was able to help countless children whose parents can’t afford to buy them even the cheapest slippers. {source}

Former “Kasambahay” Turns Her Life Around, Becomes a Successful Businesswoman

This former kasambahay experienced a lot of stress in her life but she turned things around when she found the right product to sell. Charina Bitas or Cha for short was interviewed by Karen Davila in her business show “My Puhunan”. The former kasambahay who came from Bohol and relocated to Laguna to help her parents earn money is now a successful businesswoman. Cha and her parents all moved to a squatter’s area in Laguna looking for a better life. That didn’t end well though when her father can only find a job as a carpenter and her mother, a kasambahay (maid). She wanted to help her family so she also applied as a kasambahay.

The October 2, 2019 episode of “My Puhunan” inspired a lot of people. Her job paved the way for her to meet her husband who is a company manager and owns a lending business. All good things come to an end though when their lending business went bankrupt. Customers begin missing payments.

See Beautiful Bea Alonzo and Her Posh House in Quezon City

See Beautiful Bea Alonzo and Her Posh House in Quezon City

There’s no stopping Bea Alonzo from reaching the best in life. She just shared her Quezon City house in a magazine column. The designer of the house, Jeizele delos Reyes-Go narrated how Bea requested a sophisticated, cozy, Asian look that features a “bling factor” and a hotel-feel theme for her lavish abode. She wanted to combine modern and traditional design aesthetic which Reyes-Go successfully delivered. This is the Modern Look of Bea’s House.

Entrance

Electrical wire fences and steel gates greet Bea every time she comes home from a busy day. Her house is huge and if you’re a spectator, you’ll see that as soon as you stand in front of the house. The house screams “notice me”. It features stacked wood cubes that make the property look even more expensive.

Living Area

Upon entering the house, a “quilted look” cowhide area rug greets visitors. There’s a small foyer with a crystal chandelier and a wall laden with mosaic tiles made of mother of pearl from HM Trading Philippines. Bea’s sofas are all in white and from Origins Home Furniture Shop located in Makati City. There are a baby grand piano and a Michael Cacnio metal sculpture in a colorful design. The piano and sculpture complete the look of the living room. Other touches in the living area are a chandelier plus an abstract painting by the great Arturo Luz who is a National Artist for Visual Arts.

Powder Room

Bea’s house is as classy as her. It has a powder room meant for someone beautiful and stylish as she is. The room has some gold mosaic tiles which make it regal. It also has a carved mirror which adds not only sparkle but also character to the room.

Dining Area

The dining is the area of the house that looks more traditional but still with modern touches. It has a 10-seater dining table that features customized tufted chairs with metal details. Acacia wood was used for the dining table. The table’s edges remain rough to provide rustic charm. The based is also filled with mirror panels so there’s the modern touch. There is a crystal chandelier on top of the table which they got from Victoria Mondiale.

Kitchen

The kitchen is an all-out modern room. It’s made of modern design and uses modern appliances like the fridge, microwave, and more. There’s also an ice cream maker and an espresso machine. Reyes-Go shared that the cabinets are customized and are in “high-gloss white laminates with subtle wooden color accents.” There’s also a small corner in the kitchen where Bea’s family can have breakfast or quick meals.

Home Office

Bea’s got a home office in blue. It’s a mix of modern and traditional design. A LED TV and a Mac desktop computer take the form of modern touches. On the other hand, the manual typewriter and the phonography represent the old. Both are from Heima.

There’s a blue ottoman, a couch, and a swivel office chair in the room. All are made especially for this house by Origins Home Furniture and come in “tufted backrest”. The focal point of the room ais the set of black and white photos of Bea taken by Mark Nicdao. It shows Bea in different poses and presents her in the many points of her life.

Walk-In Closet

Bea’s walk-in closet symbolizes how stylish she is. It’s the room for her clothes. There’s another room for her bags and shoes. There’s also a cabinet in the middle of her walk-in for accessories.

A chandelier that is present in many areas in her house can also be found here. This chandelier is from Lifestyle Muebles. Her shoe and bag collection is extensive with brands like Tory Burch, Gucci, Prade, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, YSL, and Christian Louboutin.

Entertainment Area

According to Bea, this is their “second living room”. It’s on the third floor and the biggest room on that floor. She mentioned that this is their favorite room. There’s an L-shaped sectional sofa, again, from Origins Home Furniture. There’s also a second cowhide area rug from Bo Concept.

Master Bathroom

The master bathroom belongs to Bea and this is where she indulges herself with long baths. Who wouldn’t with her sophisticated claw-foot tub? She makes the most of her bath through the palochina try where she can put some cup of tea, scented candles, and a book.

Sauna

The indulgence doesn’t end there. There’s also a sauna and Bea was the one who chose to have this in her house. Having a sauna allows her to relax whenever she’s home.

Master Bedroom

Just like the master bathroom, the master bedroom also belongs to Bea. She sleeps peacefully on her customized queen bed that features a wingback headboard. Some heavy drapes allow Bea to sleep more in the morning. This room, too, has a chandelier.

Pool

House party, anyone? This pool is an inviting area of Bea’s house. Parties and get-togethers take place here. The combination of earth colors blue, green, and brown is well-used in this area. The pool comes in an irregular shape and has a waterfall. The waterfall serves as a Feng Shui application to bring good luck to the house.

Bea shared that the house is airy and light so it’s nice to come home to it. People can only dream of having a house like this but it won’t hurt to try. Bea deserves every amount of luck she’s getting now. She’s a hardworking actress and businesswoman, a good friend, and a decent and respectable person.

SSS Pensioners Can Now Loan up to Php200K on Elderly Filipino Week according to SSS President Aurora Ignacio

Just when you thought SSS couldn’t get any better, the government agency announces that retirees can apply for a loan up to Php200k. SSS informed the public about their newest loan program that can help retired Filipino citizens borrow a bigger sum of money they can use for personal things like starting a small business.

SSS announced the Enhanced Pension Loan Program or PLP in time for the Elderly Filipino Week which is celebrated during the first week of October. This program aims to help about 1.5 million retired SSS members. SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora Ignacio said last October 11, 2019, that the retired-members can now apply for the loan which is 12X the amount of their basic monthly pension or BMP. They will also receive an additional Php1K for their monthly pension.

There will be a screening process and qualified retired members can pass for the loan program. They also have the option to choose between 3, 6, 12 or 24 times their basic monthly pension. They can pay this in six, twelve or twenty-four months. The payment for the loan program will start the month after they get the loan. To be qualified, the applicant must be 85 and below by the time the loan term finishes. They should also not have an existing SSS pension loan, no advance calamity package loan, must already receive a monthly pension of at least one month, and has an active SSS member status.

CEO Ignacio wants to share to the public that the government agency cares for its members and they spearheaded the loan program to show that. She said that SSS acknowledges the contributions of each member during their younger years so this is their way of giving back. The agency also aims to fight against loan organizations and loan sharks that add high-interest rates to their loaners. {source}

Russia Needs Filipino Household Service Workers | 50-75K Salary

Russia Needs Filipino Household Service Workers | 50-75K Salary

In the news, Russia needs Filipinos to work as household service. They also need musicians and other professionals. Labor Secretary Bello guarantees that Russian employers are kind. They offer monthly compensation that ranges from Php50,000 to Php75,000.

The Department of Labor and Employment is now working on the bilateral labor agreement between Russia and the Philippines. According to the Russian government, many of their locals need household service workers. They prefer to hire Filipinos because we are not only known for hard work but also perseverance.

Russia aims that the hiring of applicants will be government-to-government. However, Labor Secretary Bello said that it might be difficult for the POEA to handle the deployment of the household service workers because of the massive number of applicants. Usually, only the accredited recruitment agencies process the documents and training of the applicants.

The government-to-government recruitment process is possible for a few applicants needed. That’s why until now no agreement has been signed between the two countries. Many Filipinos who want to work in Russia are waiting for a further notice when they can start filing their application. The good thing about government-to-government process is the applicants can ensure avoiding scam.

Considering the high proposed monthly salary of household service workers, they enticed many Filipinos to leave their family and work in Russia. Even before, many Filipinos are working in Russia and it satisfied them how the Russians treat them. There’s no complaint from the OFW against the Russian employers.

Anyone who is interested to apply for the job hiring of Russia, you can check or inquire from the official website of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration for further information.

Look: Image of the Virgin Mary Survived after Star City Fire

The Star City which is an amusement park in Pasay City, Philippines caught fire last October 2, 2019. The fire was so massive that it damaged everything inside the property except for one miraculous image. That is the Image of the Virgin Mary. Love Radio DJ Diego Bandido shared the photo of the icon on his Facebook page. Netizens can’t help but say Amen and be inspired by what they saw. Everybody was in awe when after a tragedy, something survived.

Star City is not only an amusement park but also where a lot of hopeful kids experienced their first carnival ride. It’s a happy place not only for kids but also for their parents, groups of friends, families, and people who just want to forget their problems for a while and be happy especially during Christmas time which is when this park is open. For that reason, so many people felt disappointed and extremely sad about what happened to an iconic spot for many Manilenos and even people from other provinces.

There’s nothing left of the glory that Star City was once because the fire ate all of it. People can just go back to a time when they enjoyed the place with the people they love. It’s all in the memories now but seeing the image brought hope for so many. They felt revived that something good happened despite the tragedy. The image was intact when they found it and that’s a miracle you won’t normally see these days.

Manila Broadcasting Corporation which stands beside the amusement park also got fire but Love Radio, Yes the Best, and Easy Rock which is all part of the MBC group survived the fire. This goes to show that there is hope when it is dark and people just need to believe.

Good News: Dalagang Ina Scholarship Gives Hope to Teen Moms

Being a teen mom is difficult. The responsibility of raising a child at a young age can put her life on hold as early as the start of pregnancy. Good news is the Likhaan Center for Women’s Health, Inc. in collaboration with [email protected] has founded the Dalagang Ina Scholarship or Teen Mom Scholarship Program.

These groups of women aim to empower women about their reproductive and sexual rights and awareness of their sexual reproductive health. The fund of the scholarship is through The Equity Initiative.

As per the survey of the POPCOM or the Commission on Population and Development, around 530 teen girls get pregnant daily since 2017. Over the past two decades, the Philippines has an increasing percentage of teen pregnancy as reported by the United Nations Fund. It includes most of the teen moms in the poverty threshold. NEDA said young mothers may lose Php24 to Php47 billion in their potential annual earnings. It affects not only the education but also their incomes.

Through the Dalagang Ina Scholarship, a teen mom can enroll vocational course. The scholarship covers the tuition fees, allowance, and financial support for the baby. Fifteen qualified young mothers can enroll vocational course offered by the Technical Education and Skill Development Authority or TESDA. Courses include unisex haircutting or massage, baking, beauty care, barista, and hotel and restaurant management.

The materials and assessment fees are also free. The scholars will take the assessment exam after completing the course. After passing the test, they can get the certification. The founder of the Dalagang Ina Scholarship is also working with the Public Employment Service Office for the job placement of the scholars.

They conceptualized the scholarship program in 2018 by the Equity Initiative. Before they offer the scholarship, the people behind it study everything about the project and how to implement it. Through proper funding, the founder hopes that they can sustain the program and offer more slots.

The Dalagang Ina Scholarship program is open to teen moms of Tondo, Manila. The young mother must be 18 to 25 years old and the child is below five years old. {source}

4Ps – Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program Aims to Help Farmers by Giving Out Rice Instead of Cash

4Ps is a government program that helps Filipinos in the marginalized communities by giving them cash. It helps the poor communities so they can buy some food through the money they get from this program. The program is already helping a lot of Filipinos but the government is targeting more “kababayans” to benefit from the program. The Duterte administration wants to help more by converting cash to rice. This means that the beneficiaries of the 4Ps program will get rice instead of cash. The government is doing this so they can not only help the poor community but also the farmers who are struggling to sell their crops.

The new look of the 4Ps program will be spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development or DSWD and the NFA or National Food Authority. They’re doing this in the hopes of helping more Filipinos including the farmers who are also suffering from poverty. They are positive that this program will become a success since every Pinoy eat rice and this is to replace the cash and can even help the farmers. The program will truly help many locals.

This program already passed for the second reading in the Senate. The joint resolution is sponsored by Senator Cynthia Villar. The NFA will buy rice from the Philippine provinces’ farmers who are the most affected by the rice tariffication law. This is the law that many claims affected the rice deals in the country. The affected provinces are Ilocos Norte, Iloilo, Isabela, Mindoro, Pangasinan, and Tarlac.

The 4Ps beneficiaries will receive Php600 worth rice subsidy. The beneficiaries will get 20 kilos of rice plus Php300 financial assistance. The government is spending an estimated Php28.5M on the rice subsidy program. This is a great help for the farmers who are already complaining of the “bagsak presyo” deal regarding their crops. The NFA and DSWD also promised to try their best to put accessible distributing centers to help beneficiaries especially the senior citizens who will get their rice and financial assistance.

Senator Christopher Bong Go declared that he personally requested President Duterte to certify the joint requested “as urgent”. He also said that other senators asked him to request for the President’s help regarding this matter.

Millions of Filipinos are waiting for this help especially the farmers who are suffering from poverty with the lack of sales from their rice. The Philippines is one of the first countries in Asia that learned the techniques of harvesting rice. The country should be one of the top rice suppliers in the world because our farmers are experts at this. But they’re the ones suffering because of the importation of rice from other countries.

This is not to say that we shouldn’t import rice if barter trade is being talked about but let’s still help our farmers get some sales. They have mouths to feed and Philippine rice tastes good so it’s at par with imported rice. It’s not a crime to patronize imported items but let’s not forget our kababayans who also need to sell their goods. Remember that there are many local products that taste good and of good quality.
