Viral: Ogie Diaz Naglabas ng Opinyon tungkol sa Mainit na LGBT+ Issue

On the height of the CR issue with the LGBTQ+ community, talent manager and broadcast journalist Ogie Diaz had also given his thought on the issue. Ogie gave a piece of advice to the members of the LGBTQ+ community. He said that if they should go to the CR that’s designated for their birth gender, then they should feel free to do so. They shouldn’t feel any awkwardness if the men inside the comfort room look at them. On the other hand, if a transgender prefers to go to the ladies’ CR, then they may do so. They should go to wherever they prefer as long as they won’t disturb the real women inside.

He also added that the LGBTQ+ community should not request for a comfort room of their own anymore. What they should hope for instead is a clean CR; fragrant and has a flush that’s working properly. What should matter inside the comfort rooms is respect. He further added that women and men alike also have an issue of their own; that they are also emoting about their rights and existence. He said that they should understand that they are not the only ones with issues.

It can be recalled that just recently, there was a heated controversy regarding the incident that transpired between a transgender and janitress of a mall in Quezon City. It was reported that the transgender entered the ladies’ comfort room and when the janitress noticed this, she told him to go to the male comfort room instead.

The janitress explained later on that she noticed the woman inside the CR felt awkward after the transgender went inside. The transgender and janitress got into an argument which ended in having the transgender handcuffed. The incident triggered the controversy between the LGBTQ+ community and the straight people which made the LGBTQ+ push for the passing of the SOGIE bill.

Kamakailan lamang nag-mungkahi ang ating butihing Senador Sonny Angara para sa kahawig na batas ngunit ito ay para lamang sa mga teacher na nagtuturo sa pampublikong paaralan. Ang nasabing batas ay ang Senate Bill No.1872 kung saan ang public school teacher ay maaari ng magretiro sa edad na 55 o di kaya magpatuloy pa ito sa kanyang pagtuturo.

Subalit nitong nakaraang araw naghain naman ang ating Senador na si Win Gatchalian ng panibagong batas, Senate Bill No.738 na naglalayong bawasan ang edad ng pagreretiro sa lahat ng kawani ng gobyerno kung sa dating 60 ngayon ito ay baba sa edad na 55. At ang dating compulsory retirement age na 65 ay baba na lamang sa 60 taong gulang.

Ayon kay Senador Gatchalian ang layunin ng nasabing batas ay upang mabawasan ang unemployment rate sa ating bansa na isa sa itinuturing na may malaking porsyento sa Asya. Bukod pa dyan nais ng Senador na mabigyan ng pag-kakataon ang iba pang nais makapag trabaho sa gobyerno. Dagdag pa ng senador na maagang masulit ng ating mga kawani ang buhay pagreretiro kung saan maaari nilang pasukin ang iba’t ibang larangan tulad na lamang ng pagnenegosyo at iba pa.

Narito ang kanyang pahayag:
“If approved into law, and when the elder set retires early, there will be employment opportunities for more Filipinos, particularly the younger generation who are more adept in new methods and technological advancements, which are now becoming essential in the workplace,”

Kung maisasabatas ang nasabing batas na ito tiyak na maraming matutuwa dahil mas maaga nilang matatamasa ang kanilang buhay retirado at hindi na kailangan pa maghintay ng sapat na edad para dito.

Mga Senior Citizen na hindi Tumatanggap ng Pension nais mabigyan ng P1,000 kada buwan – Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.

Alam naman natin sa ating bansa hindi lahat ng Senior Citizen ay tumatanggap ng benepisyo marahil ang ilan dito ay hindi napaghandaan ang kanilang pag-tanda o hindi kaya sadyang hirap sa ating buhay. Kung mayroon man tumatanggap ng benepisyo, sila yung maituturing na indigents o walang mapagkukunan ng ikakabuhay ngunit ito ay sa halagang P500 lamang at iyan ay nakasaad sa Republic Act (R.A.) 9994 or the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010.

Ngayon ang ating Senador na si Kiko Pangilinan ay nais itong palawigin kaya naman siya ay naghain ng Senate bill No, 259 kung saan mula sa P500 ay magiging P1,000 na ang maaaring matanggap ng ating mga Senior Citizen, bukod pa diyan nais nya mapasama dito ang mga pesionless o ang mga indigents. Giit pa ng Senador na matagal ng batas ang Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 halos siyam na taon na ang lumipas kaya maaari na itong irebisa.

Kaya naman pinagbasehan nya ang ginawang pag-aaral sa taong 2017, Kung saan ang limang daang piso ay bumababa sa taong kasalukuyan. Kung sa taong 2017 ay nasa P500 pa ito, anya ngayong taong 2019 ay nasa P403 na lamang ito.

Halos malaking halaga ng porsyento ang ibinababa nito. Marahil dala na rin ng pag-taas ng ating mga bilihin. Malaking tulong ang natatanggap na ito ng ating mga Senior Citizen kung mayroon tatlong milyong nakikinabang dito malamang panahon na rin para sa mga pesionless na makatanggap ng munting benepisyo.

Being a teacher is not an easy job. It would take a lot of patience and perseverance to become and continue being one. A teacher, 2^nd to the parents, molds the children into becoming great people. They also instill good values to their students so that they will grow up to be humans that know how to respect rules and other people. A teacher’s job is tough for it would be like bringing up a child of your own and in their case, hundreds of thousands of kids pass their lives.

Just recently, a Facebook post about a teacher in Thailand went viral after seeing her crossing a severely damaged road. She didn’t want the kids to miss a lesson and so she did that unbelievable act. There was a landslide that affected the road and caused a portion of it to break down, making it impassable. Na Udom, along with other places in Thailand had been submerged in flood for several days because of Tropical Storm Podul. The typhoon damaged many roads.

The damaged roads, however, didn’t stop this teacher from going to the school so they will be updated with the lessons they are supposed to tackle inside the classroom. The teacher bravely risked her life by going down on one side of the road through a makeshift ladder and going up again through another ladder. In between climbing down and up the stairs, the dedicated teacher had to carry her bag, shoes, and another bag loaded with school supplies while walking to the collapsed portion of the road which was quite slippery.

After that death-defying act of the teacher, she still has to walk a few kilometers before reaching the school which might have also been damaged by the flood. Looking at the photos of the collapsed road, it might take several months to fix it. The road has no iron bars and a very thin asphalt; the reason perhaps why it had been easily damaged by the typhoon. The unnamed teacher and other teachers as well will have to endure crossing the road to make sure that they provide their students with education.

Blind Man from Palawan Passed His Licensure Exam for Teachers

Before finishing a college degree, a student will go through a lot of hardships especially if the course taken is a complicated one. There are some courses too wherein after graduation, there’s still a licensure examination that a graduate has to pass to ensure a better career in the future. There are several review centers that future examinees can enroll in for them to be able to refresh the lessons they have taken up. Passing a licensure exam is crucial for some courses because this will determine if they can work according to what course they have taken up.

Some reviewees who give up because they feel they can’t make it. But this blind man didn’t allow his disability to hinder him from achieving his dreams. Youtube vlogger, Archie Barone, was able to interview Jerci Gabinete who hails from Palawan. The man is now a licensed teacher after passing the LET last year. He’s a teacher in the Brooke’s Point Nationa High School in Palawan.

Aside from his job as a teacher, he’s often invited as a motivational speaker. And why not: his story is truly inspiring because even if he had lost vision, he still pursued his dream. He was able to review for the LET through the help of his classmates who would send him notes and reviewers which he would listen with the use of a screen reader application.

The blind teacher said that when he passed the LET, he felt he finally earned the respect of the people who used to mock him because of his condition. He further explained that his students in Palawan have special needs too. He handles a SPED class in high school while waiting for his load in a Filipino subject.

Jerci said that it wasn’t easy to review for the exam because a lot of concentration is needed. The man also has to be alert because he only uses his ears during the review. He left a piece of advice for the future examinees; take their studies seriously and never allow any distraction to set in.

In a recent Instagram post of Megastar Sharon Cuneta, she posted a picture of the “yayas” of that take care of her and her children. The picture showed the “yayas” wearing their uniforms and they were eating on the same table with two other ladies wearing a plain black t-shirt. The “yayas” and the other two staff appear eating together in a restaurant. The Megastar probably has no ill intention with the said post but the netizens have something to say again.

One netizen commented that it’s not good to see them wearing uniform when they are in public. Another one commented that they shouldn’t be referred to as “yaya” but should be called as a “guardian” instead. The Megastar explained her side regarding the controversial post. She said she’s sorry if the netizens misinterpreted her post.

She further explained that when she takes them with her abroad, they are not asked to wear uniforms and they are given their allowance. It’s up to them if they want to save the allowance or they want to spend it. They are also allowed to wear whatever they choose. The Megastar said that those who didn’t find it appropriate that Sharon’s “yayas” are wearing the uniform should talk to them and know how the Megastar treats them.

For the Megastar, “yaya” is a loving term that’s why even the household helpers are called that way. She even joked that it could be a bit awkward if instead of calling the “yaya” as “Yaya Hazel”, she will be called “Guardian Hazel” instead.

She further narrated that even her driver of 30 years, Dodong, is also brought abroad just like the “yayas”. On the last note, Sharon said that they may be wearing uniforms but they earn more than others do. According to the actress, wearing a uniform will save time and money for them. Uniform will not define a person.

Little Miss Philippines was a kids’ beauty pageant in Eat Bulaga that started in 1984. Since then, it has paved the way for the kids’ entry to the world of showbiz. It served as the kids’ stepping stone especially after little Aiza Seguerra rose to fame in 1987 after joining the pageant.

Here are the other artists who were once a winner or candidate of Little Miss Philippines;

Aiza Seguerra – She was the child wonder of the 80s and her career started after winning the Little Miss Philippines in 1987. When Joey de Leon asked her what she’ll do with the money if she wins, she answered, “Ilalagay ko po sa mga bulsa.”

Francine Prieto – This former star of bubble Gang was also a graduate of the popular segment of the noontime show. She joined in 1988 and became a daily winner but wasn’t able to advance as a weekly winner.

Lady Lee – She was the 1990 Little Miss Philippines Luzon. After joining the pageant, she joined the noontime show together with Aiza Seguerra. This guy grew up from a poor family. In fact, their house was a simple nipa hut and when rainy days come, there would always be leak all over the house. Growing up, he would always see his father make a blueprint for his 2-story dream house complete with a terrace. Randy N. Oliverio promised himself that when he gets a job, he will make his father’s dream house a reality. His father inherited the house located in San Antonio, Northern Samar from his grandparents.

Randy shared on his Facebook post that he made sure that he will build the house when he started working. His officemates told him that building a house in the province is not a wise move because he won’t get any ROI (return of investment) from that. They advised him to start a business instead so his money will earn.

But the good son that he is won’t be persuaded from doing what he had always wanted to do; build his dad’s dream house. He’s a Property specialist at Avida Land Corp. and from his income; he was able to save up for the construction of the house. He further narrated that when he was a young boy, he saw his father making a blueprint and layout of the house he had been dreaming of.

The family is very happy that the layout which they thought would just be a dream finally became a reality. Randy said that he won’t be worrying anymore that there will be leaks and the house will be filled with water. This story will surely inspire everyone. It only goes to show that no matter where you are in life, if you have the will and perseverance, you will achieve your dreams. This also shows that if you are good to your parents, blessings will come your way.

Largest Ocean Park in the Philippines Opens in Cebu

There’s an amazing ocean park that opened recently in Cebu. Tourists and even Filipino travelers will definitely love the place because it’s 4x bigger than Manila Ocean Park. It’s located near the SM Seaside in Cebu and along South Road Properties.

The Ocean Park had a soft opening last August 24, 2019. It’s the first of its kind in the Visayas and Mindanao and set up on a whopping 10,000sq. m. lot which also features several attractions. The Deep Tank Lagoon inside the oceanarium which covers around 3.5k cubic meters and with a depth of 7.2 meters is now the biggest and deepest aquarium in the country.

The Ocean Park which is 4x times larger than its counterpart in Manila will make visitors feel that they’re really under the sea with its 360-degree view. There’s also an underwater walkway where you can see colorful fishes that are naturally found in the waters of the Philippines. There’s a jungle trek too where the guests can marvel at the sight of freshwater fish along with other animals like parrots and lorikeets.

They can also be feed for a fee of course. Guests can also watch interactive adventures and animal shows. The park also offers underwater helmet diving, fish spa, glass-bottom boat ride, and stingray interaction. There’s also an attraction for the adventurous guests; cage diving inside the crocodile tank.

The management requests the park’s visitors not to expect too much yet and also allow the animals to settle to their new environment. The park is still in its soft opening phase so there are still some areas which are closed to the public. They announced though that the tickets that were bought previously can be used on the official opening of the park which will commence before the end of the year.

The park opens daily at 8:00 AM and closes at 8:00 PM. Ticket prices are;

You’d often hear or read about employees being maltreated by their employers especially while they are working abroad. The sad plights of OFWs in the Middle East have somewhat become a common scenario. But this former OFW, Angel, from Kuwait, is one lucky lady for having found a Syrian employer in the Philippines with a soft heart. She is currently working as a crew in YOLO Taiwanese Milk Teas owned by a famous vlogger who is a Syrian national.

Angel got featured in the vlog, The Hungry Syrian Wanderer when her employer gave a surprise birthday celebration for her at the YOLO shop. The Syrian, together with his Filipino accomplices went to Red Ribbon Bakeshop first to get a birthday cake for Angel. They also got some balloons, two gallons of Ice Cream (Cookies & Cream and Rocky road) and ordered two buckets of Chicken Joy from Jollibee.

They lighted the candles before going to the shop. Angel was speechless when she saw them coming towards her while singing happy birthday. The lady got teary-eyed with happiness as she realized that her employer is giving her a surprise birthday celebration.

A few days later, Angel got another surprise. This time it caught her off guard and couldn’t believe what luck befell her. The famous Syrian vlogger, through his accomplice, Ica, called for Angel and told her that he’s going to tell her something. Ica fetched her and after a few minutes, they arrived at the apartment of the Syrian. They had a small conversation about working abroad and both agreed that it’s more beautiful and fun in the Philippines.

That’s why even the Syrian had adapted to the Philippine culture. At this point, the vlogger brought out keys and Angel jokingly asked if he’s giving her a car. He told her he’s giving her the house and this brought Angel to tears but she was somehow thinking that it was just a prank. But her boss told her it was really for her. He had already paid one year in advance and said that he’s making the sacrifice even if he doesn’t have his own house in his native land because Angel had been working for him for quite some time now so it’s like payback time so he’s giving her a house.

Metro Manila gets flooded easily thus creating heavier traffic especially in the area of Manila. More often than not, when the roads get flooded, there will be no more traffic enforcer in sight to direct traffic so the volume of traffic only adds up. Traffic Enforcer Gilbert Bautista is different. He was seen directing traffic at the middle of the road despite being submerged in floodwaters. A netizen, Laurice Gel Mariano, took notice of his actions and took a picture then posted it on social media.

The traffic enforcer can be seen directing traffic even if the flood has almost reached his knees. He didn’t mind the danger he might get from the floodwaters like leptospirosis or the possibility of having cramps or spasms. He just wanted to make sure that there will be a smooth flow of traffic and people won’t get stuck in their cars for long hours. He’s probably one of the few who believes in doing his job no matter what the conditions are.

The netizen captioned her post with a salute to the traffic enforcer for doing his job despite heavy rains. The netizens who saw the post admired the enforcer for standing there in the middle of the road because if it had been a different enforcer, he might have left his post and seek shelter to avoid getting wet.

Some commented that the enforcers should each be given boots and raincoats for situations like this. They said that the City of Manila should provide traffic enforcers with those gears. The post had reached the Mayor of Manila, Isko Moreno, who highly praised the enforcer’s act. He promised to provide the enforcers with boots and raincoats but it might just take time since it still has to go through the proper process of acquisition.

When you hear the name Camille Prats, the first thing that comes to mind is her portrayal as Princess Sarah in Sarah; Ang Munting Prinsesa. She’s also remembered as the cute little girl in Okidokidok and Ang TV. Camille practically grew up in the eyes of the televiewers and moviegoers. Twenty-six years later, Camille’s still active on TV. She’s a GMA-7 talent now and has several shows on the network including a morning talk show with Iya Villania; Mars Pa More.

Aside from being busy with her showbiz commitments, Camille is also busy handling Divine Angels Montessori of Cainta, Inc. located in Rizal. The school is owned by the Prats family and she handles the business together with brother John Prats and other family members. Camille put up the school in 2009.

It was just a pre-school then, When she got pregnant with first child, Nathan, she took up a Montessori course in the U.S. because she had always dreamt of becoming a teacher and had always been fond of kids.

She used to teach in junior pre-school when the school was just starting. When she came back from the U.S., she slowly made a school expansion and in 2018, almost three hundred students have enrolled. Camille is the school directress aside from being the founder.

Camille is hands-on when it comes to handling the affairs of the school. She makes sure that the teachers are screened well to ensure the quality of education that they offer in the school. Camille said that her parents have instilled the importance of education.

Her father is also a businessman and he guides the actress in handling her school especially when it was just starting. The former child actress has long term plans for the school and she will make sure it will be at par to high-end schools when it comes to giving the best education possible.

DOLE – Kamakailan lamang nagkaroon ng nilagdaan kasunduan ang ilang opisyal ng DOLE at Yukon territory para sa mga 2,000 libong trabaho skilled workers para sa mga Filipino. Ayon sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) nakapaloob dito ang mga posisyon ng skilled workers, tulad ng nurse, engineer, heavy equipment o machine operator, chef, at teacher.

Saad pa ng ating Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello tatanggap ng P80,000 kada buwan ang mapalad na mabibigyan ng pagkakataon makapag-trabaho sa Yukon. Dagdag pa nito ayon sa Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) administrator Bernard Olalia dapat mas mabilis ang proseso ng sinumang matatanggap dito.

Giit pa ng (POEA) administrator Bernard Olalia ang nasabing job order ay walang placement fee at ang ahensya ng POEA ang hahawak ng aplikasyon para dito. Sa mga interesado at nais mag-applay dito mangyari po lamang na abangan ang mga anunsyo na ilalathala sa POEA website.

Look: Couple Selling Empanada with Sick Son goes Viral

The photo of a couple selling empanada with their sickly child in tow became viral on social media recently. At first glance, the only thing you’ll notice is the container of the merchandise which is placed over the wheelchair of the boy. If you take a look again, you will see that a little boy is resting underneath the merchandise.

The post got noticed by GMA Public Affairs, thus, it was featured on the show, Stand for Truth on the network’s Youtube channel. The boy has Cerebral Palsy. According to the mother of the boy, they always bring their son with them because no one will be able to take care of him.

Babylyn, the boy’s mother, narrated that they have just transferred to their new house. The last three houses they’ve lived were all hit by fire. They were only able to save the wheelchair which they now use in selling their merchandise and at the same time, it’s where their son rests while he goes with them. The poor mother also said that sometimes, they have to endure hunger so that they will be able to earn. The sick boy only gets to drink milk when they get home. They make him drink milk before leaving the house in the morning and will only be able to drink again when they get back.

Life is not easy for this family but the parents of the boy try to keep going despite the hardships that they encounter daily. It’s not easy to sell on the streets; enduring the heat of the sun or the rain. All they have in mind is to be able to at least be able to feed their only son. The love of the couple for their son is admirable. Add this to the fact that they instead of doing something illegal to live a better life, they opt to earn the hard way.
