You’d often hear or read about employees being maltreated by their employers especially while they are working abroad. The sad plights of OFWs in the Middle East have somewhat become a common scenario. But this former OFW, Angel, from Kuwait, is one lucky lady for having found a Syrian employer in the Philippines with a soft heart. She is currently working as a crew in YOLO Taiwanese Milk Teas owned by a famous vlogger who is a Syrian national.
Angel got featured in the vlog, The Hungry Syrian Wanderer when her employer gave a surprise birthday celebration for her at the YOLO shop. The Syrian, together with his Filipino accomplices went to Red Ribbon Bakeshop first to get a birthday cake for Angel. They also got some balloons, two gallons of Ice Cream (Cookies & Cream and Rocky road) and ordered two buckets of Chicken Joy from Jollibee.
They lighted the candles before going to the shop. Angel was speechless when she saw them coming towards her while singing happy birthday. The lady got teary-eyed with happiness as she realized that her employer is giving her a surprise birthday celebration.
A few days later, Angel got another surprise. This time it caught her off guard and couldn’t believe what luck befell her. The famous Syrian vlogger, through his accomplice, Ica, called for Angel and told her that he’s going to tell her something. Ica fetched her and after a few minutes, they arrived at the apartment of the Syrian. They had a small conversation about working abroad and both agreed that it’s more beautiful and fun in the Philippines.
That’s why even the Syrian had adapted to the Philippine culture. At this point, the vlogger brought out keys and Angel jokingly asked if he’s giving her a car. He told her he’s giving her the house and this brought Angel to tears but she was somehow thinking that it was just a prank. But her boss told her it was really for her. He had already paid one year in advance and said that he’s making the sacrifice even if he doesn’t have his own house in his native land because Angel had been working for him for quite some time now so it’s like payback time so he’s giving her a house.
