Our country’s agricultural sector is a significant contributor to the nation’s income. Thus, farmers play a crucial role in the economic growth of the Philippines. In recent years, due to the changes in climate, a shift in the human lifestyle brought about by the advancement of technology and modernization, an increase in the cost of raw materials, etc., farming is slowly declining in terms of revenue, value for the work, and its people.
In the country, not all farmers own land to cultivate and grow their products, may it be rice, crops, vegetables, fruits, etc. Most of them are working as caretakers or tenants of the huge farm of their landlords. A sad truth, most farmers hardly earn a good income to support and feed his family. He plants and grows rice, but he doesn’t have enough supply of rice for his own family and, worst, can barely eat a decent meal. Most landlords give below minimum salary for their farmers, without any other benefits, such as medical assistance, whenever they get sick of overworking on their farm.
Other people may devalue and may not appreciate the effort that farmers do, but to a daughter’s eyes, her father is the best of all, as he is working hard just to send her to school and support her in reaching her dreams.
