Nowadays, many celebrities have been joining the Army. In this case, a beauty queen had also joined the ranks. Miss Air Philippines of the Miss Earth pageant 2018, Zahra Bianca Saldua, is now a second lieutenant in the Philippine Army reserve force.
This goes to show that beauty queens are not just beauty and brains but can also have the will and vigor to serve the country. This may come as a surprise because as of late, male celebrities have been the ones joining the ranks although many ordinary females have become part of the service too.
As shared by Miss Air Philippines and 2nd Lt. Zahra in her FB post, she said that when she was still in college and taking part in the ROTC, she had always wanted to help and serve the Filipino people and the country. Her three-year experience in the Philippine Army has changed how she sees life in general. Zahra has seen many events in those three years and has seen the Army’s love for the people and the country. Her becoming an Army 2nd lieutenant is a dream come true and she hopes to influence the youth to take part in serving the country and its people.
She further explained that she got inspire to join the Army when she became a host of the Army’s Senior Leaders’ Conference. She had become an active member of the reservists after that event. She also thanked in her post those that have helped her during training and those that have welcomed and pushed to help her make a meaningful contribution to the society.
She added that she was very humbled and honored by the experience. Zahra gave recognition to the unsung heroes of the nation, the brave men and women, the Philippine Army, and the entire Armed Forces of the Philippines.
