Before finishing a college degree, a student will go through a lot of hardships especially if the course taken is a complicated one. There are some courses too wherein after graduation, there’s still a licensure examination that a graduate has to pass to ensure a better career in the future. There are several review centers that future examinees can enroll in for them to be able to refresh the lessons they have taken up. Passing a licensure exam is crucial for some courses because this will determine if they can work according to what course they have taken up.

Some reviewees who give up because they feel they can’t make it. But this blind man didn’t allow his disability to hinder him from achieving his dreams. Youtube vlogger, Archie Barone, was able to interview Jerci Gabinete who hails from Palawan. The man is now a licensed teacher after passing the LET last year. He’s a teacher in the Brooke’s Point Nationa High School in Palawan.

Aside from his job as a teacher, he’s often invited as a motivational speaker. And why not: his story is truly inspiring because even if he had lost vision, he still pursued his dream. He was able to review for the LET through the help of his classmates who would send him notes and reviewers which he would listen with the use of a screen reader application.

The blind teacher said that when he passed the LET, he felt he finally earned the respect of the people who used to mock him because of his condition. He further explained that his students in Palawan have special needs too. He handles a SPED class in high school while waiting for his load in a Filipino subject.

Jerci said that it wasn’t easy to review for the exam because a lot of concentration is needed. The man also has to be alert because he only uses his ears during the review. He left a piece of advice for the future examinees; take their studies seriously and never allow any distraction to set in.
