Student Who Stops from Schooling, Surprised by his Professor with a New Laptop

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, regular face to face classroom set up is not allowed to secure the safety of the students as well as the teachers.

Recently, laptops, tablets, and other similar gadgets are essential to students and teachers because of the new class arrangement and set up proposed. However, not everyone has the means to acquire these gadgets.

Some families are struggling with their daily essentials, especially with food, water, and electricity bill. Therefore, this online class set up is an added expense and burden to many parents and, of course, to students.

Justine Delima | fb

Justine Delima, a student from the Philippines Diliman’s University, faces the same dilemma since the laptop he was using got broken. It was the reason why he did not enroll himself for the mid-year classes but had written movie scripts as part-time instead.

The student’s current situation had reached one of his professors. Sir Ludendorffo “Sir Lu” Decenteceo stepped in to help Justine. Mr. Decenteceo was his teacher in the drafting course during the first semester and in the Voice Theater course in the second semester.

Justine Delima | fb

The professor must have seen so much potential in Justine that he did not doubt help him out have his new laptop. Out of nowhere, Sir Lu messaged Justine to pick up the laptop for him. He even was more surprised when he opened the box and seen a brand new ASUS Transformer Book Flip.

Justine was so happy that his teacher without hesitation had brought him a new unit of laptop. “Ang Mahal po ng binigay nyong laptop saakin, can’t afford this talaga (nakita ko po yung resibo) Salamat kay Sir Lu! na Prof. ko sa UP na super bait,” Justine said on his Facebook post.

Justine said that the laptop is indeed a big help for him and his siblings since they will also be into online classes. He will share the blessing to them and very thankful to Sir Lu for his genuine generosity.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the world into chaos, panic, health crisis, and economic downfall. A significant population has lost jobs and businesses since the pandemic broke out.

The daily habit, routines, and activities were greatly affected by the global crisis. And one primary sector affected by this pandemic is the transportation industry due to the travel restrictions, quarantine and lockdown to avoid the spread of the virus.

All sorts of public vehicles and vessels were not allowed to operate unless permitted by the government as long as they follow protocol and safety measures.

The aviation industry is primarily affected since no domestic, and especially no International flights were allowed. Thus, aviation workers became jobless. A flight attendant named Lorie Mae Parungao, who was working as a flight attendant at Pan Pacific Airlines, is one of them.

Lorrie May Parungao | fb

Parungao, instead of just staying at home and wait for the job to resume, decided to sell fishball near her place.

On her Facebook post, she said that selling fishballs and other street food is not new to her since even before she became an FA, she does them.

Lorrie May Parungao | fb

She also added that even if she might not get as much income as what she can when working as an FA, selling fishball can help them with their daily needs especially buying food every day during this pandemic.

Leaving advice to all who are struggling to earn a living these trying times, she said, “Always be grateful for all that has happened in our lives. It will be our fuel for our dreams. Never forget where we came from; it will always lead and teach us to aim and soar high.

Many netizens were inspired by her act and admired Parungao’s fighting spirit and motivation as a family’s breadwinner. It’s what everyone needs these days.

A 15-year old boy named Xiaobin was rushed to the hospital by his parents after he has collapsed inside his room and cannot move his arms due to excessive computer gaming.

The parents thought that the teenager was busy attending to his online classes because of the COVID-19 restrictions imposed in China since the start of this year. There will be no face-to-face classes in any part of China and many parts of the world.

It is true that the teenager was in his online classes but unknown to his parents, and he spent extra hours playing on his computer. He has binge himself playing to the point that he had missed eating, drinking, and even did not sleep.

The parents did not often check on him because he said he shouldn’t be disturbed because his teachers are strict. He needed to be always online for the lessons.

The parents were even proud and happy that this boy took his lessons seriously and valued his education despite the new classes set up. They did not also think he was tricking them even after school had ended as they thought that classes had to be extended due to the virus.

However, one time, his parent checked on him, and to their surprise, the teenager found collapsed on the floor and could not move his arms due to overused in playing. They found out that the boy was nonstop playing for 22 hours and just slept for 2 hours.

The event was recently brought to light by Nanning Television after Xiaobin had been receiving treatment at the Jiangbin Hospital in Guangxi province after the incident.

It was an eye-opener to all parents to watch their children, especially now that they would be staying at home for schooling. Also, teenagers or children should be aware of the dangers of too much time spent on their computer or phone.

From the outside, the house is half-concrete and half made of a material similar to a ‘sawali’’. It really looks like a typical house in a province. But on the other photos, the house was actually a fully-furnished modern designed house.

After all, the presence of the family and the love and harmony within each member is what really matters. You may have the biggest mansion on Earth but if you are not contented and happy with what you have, you would still end up unsatisfied.

Kudos to the Lamoste family that both have that happiness inside their simple but elegant home of love.

88-Year-Old Lolo Finally Has A Home To Call His Own, Made Possible By This Motorcycle Riders.

This pandemic taught us many lessons and opened up our eyes to things we should see. On a specific note, there are two things that I believe we are now aware of; that nothing is permanent in this world and money could not guarantee our safety. These two things give us the realization that at the end of the day, we only got each other.

Recently, a group of motorcycle riders made headlines on social media as they blessed an old man who lived in a shack. The story of the 88-year-old Lolo named Feliciano Domingo really breaks the heart of these riders and in response, they did something that surely changed the old man’s life forever.

Lolo Feliciano is living in Barangay Maab-abaca, Piddig, in Ilocos Norte and he has no place to call his home. He is living alone after his family left him years ago. Knowing the plight of the old man, a group of motorcycle riders names ADJO Moto Club collect funds to build a comfortable shelter for Lolo Feliciano.

Within 12 days, they finished the house which is made in concrete to make sure that it is sturdy and could stand any calamity. In addition to that, they also gave Lolo Feliciano a bed and a kitchen where he can prepare his meal. Many netizens were impressed with the kindness of these riders.

Some netizens shared their thoughts about what they did for Lolo Feliciano. Here are some of their thoughts:

“Spread the good news. As what my grandfather told me that, God gave us two hands not to punish people but to give our helping hands. I do feel happy seeing people doing something good to humanity, God bless us.”

“Mas lalo pang pag-iingatan ng Panginoon ang inyong paglalakabay, mga riders. Thank you sa inyo. Sana madami pa ang rider association na tulad niyong matulungin.”

God bless you!

Old Man Received Help From Riders In Building A New Home For Him.

This old man received help from riders in building a new home for him. COVID-19 gives us many realizations especially when it comes to extending help to people. This pandemic reminds us of the very meaning of “Bayanihan” and how a little kindness could transform lives. During this crisis, we witnessed how the government, private sectors, and individuals united as one to combat the virus and help those who are in very need.

After being left behind by his family, the 80-year-old man named Tatay Venerando lived in a shack at Brgy. Dancalan in Bobon, Northern Samar. His shanty home is built with scraps from construction sites and rubbish. Obviously, the old man has no means of building a comfortable house for himself and the only way of having it is if there are angels who will
extend help.

Photo Source: Dennis Carolino / Facebook

Speaking of angels, a group of riders named Sniper Club 150i and JHS riders club knew about the plight of the old man. They managed to collect money from their own pockets to build a new house for Tatay Venerando. They wanted to help Tatay Venerando by building him a sturdier and safe home for him. A netizen named Dennis Carolino shared photos of the 80-year-old man on social media. He captioned the post:

“For two years na siyang pinabayaan ng pamilya niya. Mga butas-butas na yung bubong tapos yung mga yero na ginamit para sa walling ay galing lang sa mga sobra-sobra yung haligi maliliit din, so possible sira agad.”

Photo Source: Dennis Carolino / Facebook

The riders launched the charity drive “Munting Pabahay” for Tatay Venerando. The charity drive made them collect enough money to buy materials for the old man’s new house. Aside from that, they’re also the ones who build the house. These kind riders spent 8 hours to build the house and making sure that it would be a comfortable and safer abode for Tatay Venerando.

“For eight hours, dapat continue matapos, kasi that time umulan po tas nagpa-ulan na lang kami. Kailangan matapos kasi para may bagong bahay na si Tatay,” Dennis said.

In addition, the riders also arranged his belongings inside the new house and gifted him with groceries.

Kudos to your kindness! God bless you!

32-Year-Old Filipina-Aussie Hailed As The Youngest Billionaire In Australia.

Being a kid gives us the privilege of dreaming wild and big. This is the stage where we create images of who we want to be, what we have, and where we are in the future. As we grew old, we remind ourselves of those dreams and one by one, achieving it. And I assume, this woman who will be featured in this article is dreaming to be a billionaire when she was young.

The Philippine Times (Australia) / Facebook

Meet the youngest billionaire in Australia. She is Melanie Perkins, a Filipina-Aussie who was hailed as a billionaire at the age of 32. In 2014, Melanie and co-owner founded their graphic design and publishing tool named “Canva.” She started the company when she was 22. With her partner, they created a platform for designing e-books. The company is owned by her, her fiancé Cliff Obrecht and their friend, Cameron Adams. Every month, there are more than 50,000 schools, and over 15 million people used their platform.

The Philippine Times (Australia) / Facebook

While the pandemic greatly affected many companies that lead to bankruptcy, Canva didn’t feel that at all. While the Covid-19 spreads all over the world and people are forced to stay at home, many people use Canva. The number of people using the platform doubled and now reaches over 30 million users. Most of them create designs, collaborating on presentations, and others engaged in making social media content.

The Philippine Times (Australia) / Facebook

Canva’s value doubled this year that rises up to $6 billion during the pandemic and making the worth of $2.5 billion. As a result, Melanie earned the third spot on the list of richest women in Australia and hailed as the youngest billionaire. She is on the 82nd spot on the Australian’s richest 250 lists with a net worth of $1.32 billion. Melanie advised the soon-to-be entrepreneurs.

The Philippine Times (Australia) / Facebook

“I think that’s the most important thing because once you find a problem you want to solve passionately, there’s gonna be so many barriers — every single barrier you can possibly imagine. I think that once you get a crystal clear picture of the problem you want to solve, that’s sort of step one.”

Architects Transformed a Bare Unit Into An Amazing House.

Architects Transformed a Bare Unit Into An Amazing House.

Looking for a budget-friendly yet impressive house? Are you planning for a house renovation or transformation? If yes, then this article would be an amazing inspiration for you. Most of us nowadays are looking for an affordable and budget-friendly house. Nothing is cheap right now especially during this pandemic so planning is a must.

Villages or subdivisions are now offering units or so-called “raw house” that will not wear out your pockets. Starting family and young employees are the usual takers because it suits their financial capacity. But the house is literally raw. No divisions, no partitions, no furnishing. You only got the title and the key, that’s all. But you’re the owner now so that means, you can decorate and furnish your house that way you want it to be.

However, decorating a house is not as simple as you say it. You need to have the creativity, right planning, and budget. If you can’t do it on your own, then let’s go on Plan B, hire impressive people. Recently, a woman named Karen Mae Cabuhat shared a post online of her house and how she transformed it into an impressive masterpiece.

The house is raw and has nothing special when she bought it. It’s just a building with no tiles, divisions, and bare at all, not to mention the kitchen counter that looks like a concrete box. The bathroom is also bare with some beams showing up and the second floor which is best described as ugly.

Thankfully, Karen was able to hire professional and talented architects. With her is the design of her dream house, the sketch of how she wanted it to look like. Personally, my hopes are high because hiring an architect is an extra expense. All I expect is perfection. And tadaaah! The architects are able to make her dream into reality and she was very happy with the outcome.

The builders started off by demolishing the walls, removing the unnecessary parts, and gradually making what Karen wants. The house has a small space and maximizing it is the best idea to get the most out of it. The house was extended to the fence that adds space inside. Built-in cabinets were also added, a good idea in maximizing space.

Instead of having a big and grand reception, they opted to donate PPEs and groceries to covid19 victims. They thought of not having a big celebration because of the pandemic outbreak. Many were inspired by their story when a local TV news program shared how they celebrated their wedding.

The wedding was held at the Victory Church, Sta. Maria, Bulacan last June 18, 2020, and only 8 people attended the ceremony. After the wedding, they donated groceries to different communities and gave PPEs to hospitals in Bulacan. The couple gave personal protective equipment to the medical mission group cooperative hospital at Turo, Bocaue, Pandi emergency service, and Corazon de Jesus Poblacion, Sta. Maria.

“Gusto lang namin i-honor si Lord, and we as a couple believe na yung maliit na tulong namin may malaking difference na magagawa hopefully maging inspiration din sa iba,” Wilber shared during their interview.

He also mentioned that their pastor also suggested the kind act. It was also one way of thanking God that their wedding was pushed through while the whole country is experiencing the pandemic outbreak.

Wilbert also added:

“Pinag-usapan namin ni misis and pinag-pray din. Eventually, pinili namin siyang gawin. It is our way to honor God at the same time, thanksgiving na din namin ‘yun sa mga modern-day hero natin.”

It is inspiring to see stories like this. Many good Samaritans are still present today. Wilbert and Harlene can have a grand celebration but instead, they chose to help other people during one of the most special events of their lives. Congratulations to our newlywed and God bless you, Mr. and Mrs. Silverio.
