“I started selling them in the last week of May this year. I read feedbacks about the brand and its products first.” Then, I sent a message on their Facebook page to inquire. I ordered 100 tubs for my first batch. My capital was around PHP6,000,” wika ni Daniella.

An OFW Daughter Gives Pride to Her Kababayan as She Becomes the First Filipino Mayor in England

Cynthia Alcantara Barker made history as the first-ever elected as the first Philippine-born official to hold the prestigious post in England. She has been appointed Mayor of Hertsmere in Hertfordshire.

Despite living for a long time in England, Mayor Cynthia was born and grew up with her family in San Pablo City, Laguna, but her mother was an OFW in the UK.

This is indeed making her fellow Pinoys proud of what she has become. Besides being mayor, Barker also became the first Filipino to be elected as Councillor and Deputy Mayor in the United Kingdom in 2019.

Mayor Rabbi Alan Plancey, the former mayor, commended Cynthia Barker as an excellent Deputy Mayor with her goal of serving the community well in her new role.

Mayor Cynthia graduated from Adamson University in Manila with a degree in Industrial Engineering before moving to the UK to be with her mother.

Before being appointed as mayor and gone viral, she also had exemplary performance and service as the overseer of the Elstree and Borehamwood Film Studios in Hertfordshire. The studios are a British version of Hollywood.

“I always visit Elstree and Borehamwood Studios as much as I could to see what’s happening there from a day-to-day basis. I am exercising my responsibilities over the studios as councilor,” she explained.

According to Barker, during her year as mayor, she will prioritize raising money for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the leading UK charity preventing child abuse and helping those affected.

It is almost 29 that Barker lived in Hertsmere, and within this period, she has been an active servant for the welfare of her community. Some of her previous roles include improving the well-being of residents’ lives as councilors, council representative for the Youth Council, helping the Operations Review, Audit and Member Training and Development Group, and many more.

“Pagdating nung order niya, 1 cup of rice and water lang.

At the Age of 21 She Bought Her Owned House and Completed Her MBA Degree and Now Taking PhD

It is not impossible, but it is awe-inspiring! A 21-year old woman from Florida, USA, named Pakeezah Zubairi, now owns a house, finished her MBA degree, and now takes her Ph. D. studies at age 21.

At a very young age, she reached her dreams, but she admitted that it was not an easy journey for her. She was deprived of sleep and proper nutrition because while studying, she was also working fulltime.

“I feel like all I did from high school until I got my house was work and study – during my master’s, I worked full time while my course was full time. I would write papers until five o’clock in the morning and then sleep two hours and get up for work,” said Pakeezah.

Despite her achievements and endeavors, her family did not approve of her moving out from them and living with her boyfriend Steven.

“It was tough moving out, I come from a very religious background, and they stopped talking to me when I left because they wanted me to be this good little Muslim girl, and that just wasn’t for me,” she explained.

Unlike young people her age, it was a luxury to buy designer clothes, gadgets, and even go out drinking and spending holidays. She maintained a very frugal lifestyle.

“My boyfriend Steven was a massive help, he stayed up with me to study, and we bought the cheapest food we could which was all pretty awful for our bodies, ready meals, and super noodles. My friend would drive me from work to school every day”, she said.

Pakkezah’s family refused to talk to her and in their absence, Steven’s family became her second family that have supported her in her dreams.

According to Pakeezah, while in high school, she was also earning part of her university credits as she enrolled in BS Psychology at Lynn University, Florida. She finished her Master of Business Administration at age 20, and now studying for her Ph.D. and lives in her a house that she bought with her own money from her work. Finally, she has more time to enjoy her life.

“When I look back to work, we put in, and I’m just so happy with what I have achieved and what we have achieved as a couple. I’m the youngest student to ever graduate from an MBA business course at my university, and that feels amazing,” she explained.

It was all worth it, I’m independent, working and studying in subjects I love, and it’s all thanks to the hard work of my younger years and the support of my amazing boyfriend. We’re just over the moon”, said Pakeezah acknowledging her boyfriend’s major role in her success.

photo via Everything Pinas | Facebook

photo via Everything Pinas | Facebook

photo via Everything Pinas | Facebook

Inspiring: He Used to Eat Restaurant Leftover Foods, “Poverty Was a Hindrance to My Success”

These powerful words have gone viral from a student of the University of the Philippines (UP) who, despite extreme poverty, has graduated cum laude.

Rene Principe, who came and grown up in “extreme poverty,” shared his struggles and explained that he refuses to glorify them.

photo Rene Principe | Facebook

“Just little backstory of how my life was so hard back then. I used to eat restaurant leftover scraps for breakfast… and lunch… and dinner. It’s painful to see my classmates have chickenjoy while all I had in my lunchbox was a half-eaten, reheated drumstick from people I never knew and met. We just migrated to Cagayan de Oro after we lost our home in Compostella Valley from fire. We’re left with nothing, as in WALANG-WALA. Education was our only way out of extreme poverty, but even that was hard”, stated Rene in his lengthy post on Facebook.

photo Rene Principe | Facebook

Principe was one of the 2,892 graduates of UP’s first virtual commencement exercises last July 26.

“Contrary to popular belief, dyeing your hair is not a hindrance to success, but poverty is,” Principe said in a now-viral post on Facebook.

Principe clarified that while his success should be celebrated, it should also make others face the “enraging” truth about the education system.

photo Rene Principe | Facebook

“I refuse to glorify the extreme poverty that I went through,” he said. “Because the same poverty that everyone might think inspired me to make it all the way is the same poverty which hinders millions of Filipinos access to quality education.”

At the age of 8, he wanted to leave the planet for good because of the many hardships that he and his family have encountered. But what he meant is that he wanted to be an astronaut; that is why he took up Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics at the University of the Philippines Diliman.

photo Rene Principe | Facebook

“I am with the poor, and I know what it’s like to lose your spirit over a hungry stomach. I refuse to believe that poverty is NOT a hindrance to success because it is, my victory is an exception, but it is not the norm”, expressed Principe.

Mag Asawang Dating Nag-Uulam Corned Beef at Pancit Canton Ngayon ay Nagmamay-ari na ng Isang Kompanya

There is a season for everything, ika nga.

SSS Implements Number Coding Scheme in Transactions

SSS Implements Number Coding Scheme in Transactions

To regulate the number of people transacting in its branches amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Social Security System (SSS) implemented and adapted a number coding system and modified service procedures in handling transactions in 61 selected branches nationwide.

The signing of Circular No. 2020 – 017 by SSS President Aurora C. Ignacio has limited the branches’ walk-in transactions. They also set a prescribed weekly transaction schedule wherein members and employers (ERs) can do their transactions with SSS. The schedule is based on the last digit of their Social Security (SS) or ER ID numbers.

The number coding scheme and modified service measures in all 51 branches in the National Capital Region will have to be implemented upon the circular.

The implementation will be followed by branches in Luzon throughout Baguio, Dagupan, Bacoor, and Biñan, while in the Visayas and Mindanao region, it will also be implemented in Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Bacolod, Iloilo-Central, Cagayan De Oro, and Davao branches.

According to the president and chief executive, these new procedures would manage the number of people transacting in their branches.

Digital transactions

SSS branches provide contact details such as phone numbers and email addresses at the entrance and on the branch website directory so that members and employers may call, text, or email any time they have queries and concerns.

The agency will inform the public if there is any suspension of the coding system and modified service procedure in any stated branches, or any further implementation on other branches.

“Through these alternative branch service procedures, we hope to limit our stakeholders’ risk of exposure to COVID-19. We have also expanded our online services in the My.SSS web portal so that they can transact with us at the convenience of their homes or offices”, Ignacio said.

The agency encourages its members and employers to use the digital platform for easy navigation and transaction, especially in these times. Also to prevent further transmission of the coronavirus due to physical contact through making transactions in a physical SSS branch.

Joieanne Marie Macarubbo, Marie Clare Perez, and Jovine Martin recently inspired netizens after Joieanne Marie Macarubbo on her Facebook account named Ching Macarubbo posted their success.

“I can still vividly remember the day we took the first photo. The foundation of our dreams. The year 2011, the year we graduated high school. Never have I imagined graduating together again with these two, neither have we talked about going to the same school.

We just found ourselves applying to the same college. We have gone through so much during the years, on the brink of failure, crying ourselves out almost every night, tired & restless, especially during our clerkship, but never took quitting as an option.

Now, 9 years from that day, here we are, living our vision. Truly, the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Wouldn’t have survived med school without you two. And of course the support of our dear parents”, said Ching on her FB post.

Quick Tour on Beautiful Cozy Apartment of Janine Gutierrez

Like other celebrities trying to venture on new things, Janine Gutierrez has also entered into the exciting and fun world of vlogging.

Netizens were in awe of her first vlog after she has shared what her abode looks like. “We’re live!! Part two of what we’ve been working on – our own YouTube channel! Starting it off with my home tour as the first video…” she said on her first video vlog on YouTube.

The first episode was a tour around the actress and model’s very own home whose pastel palette, statement details, and cozy vibe gave viewers major inspiration.

Trendy walls and evocative décor

Some might go for neutrals and organized room divisions that are simply classic, we’re big fans of how Janine opted to do something unique. She made use of wallpaper and decorated with a coordinated mishmash of differently sized and colored framed artworks like her favorite paintings, photographs, and posters. These highly personal choices show off her personality, her favorite memories, and her sentimentality that makes an important factor that turns a house into a home.

The kitchen

Janine says she’s always wanted an old school Smeg fridge for as long as she can remember because of how cute it is. This fridge makes an extra piece of art. Her choice of a faded quail egg-blue, round-cornered refrigerator now sits in a kitchen filled with soft tropical hues; light salmon cupboards, a floor of wooden panels, and sandy walls make the perfect partners to her favorite fridge.

With her kitchen being seen from every point of her home, she wanted to make sure that it was also the most visually appealing space.

#SupportLocal

Despite the ease and comfort of just buying tons of lovely pieces readily available at furniture shops around the metro, Janine opted for a custom-made, rectangular wooden dining table made by local artisans that comfortably sits six.

We’re especially fond of an adorable detail that might go unseen, but made all the difference; on one side of the table’s longer side sits two dining chairs, while the other one is combined with a toning wooden bench. It’s a smart idea to make more room for additional diners!

One that you’ll also notice is a painting of the ocean that hangs in her dining area. It is likewise made by a local artist named Tammy De Roca, who Janine discovered via Instagram.

Janine’s apartment is genuinely filled with beauty beyond their costs-a reflection of fashion and passion.

“Waking up everyday, I keep on asking myself if what more or what else I can do to be more productive and to earn extra income since the airline industry will take 2-3 years before mag back to normal operations. So I came up on an idea to sell trending food online,” wika ni Sophia.

“Let’s stop pulling people down. Instead, help each other succeed. We all have our own ways of coping and dealing with the effect of this pandemic, support people who are going out of their comfort zones and trying their best to be better,” dugtong pa ni Sophia sa kanyang post.
